Why us, really

Construction with the aloha spirit.

We started Happy Bay because remodel horror stories shouldn't be the norm. These four things are how we make sure they aren't.

CSLB licensed

#1107947, bonded, insured. The legit kind, not the trust-me kind.

Two Bay offices

San Francisco + Oakland. We actually live and work where we build.

Fixed-scope contracts

No surprise change orders mid-project. The price you see is the price.

A team that smiles

We hire respectful contractors who'll talk to you like a person, not a project number.

Brittney and Eshel, founders of Happy Bay Construction
Meet the founders

Brittney and Eshel.

We're a husband-and-wife team who started Happy Bay because we'd heard one too many remodel horror stories. Opaque pricing, ghosted phone calls, three-week jobs that turned into three-month nightmares — we built our entire process around not doing those.

Eshel runs the site, the trades, and the schedule. Brittney runs client communication, design coordination, and the dozen things that keep a remodel from quietly going sideways. Between us and a small crew of contractors we've worked with for years, you get one schedule, one project manager, and a whole lot of aloha.

More about Happy Bay
How it goes

Four stages. One project manager.

The same crew plans your project, demos the space, builds it, and hands it back cleaned. You always know who to call.

Stage 01

Planning

We meet on-site, take measurements, and walk through what you want. You leave with a detailed work plan and a fixed-scope contract — no surprise costs midway.

Stage 02

Demolition

Demo day. We protect floors and adjacent rooms, carefully remove what's being replaced, and keep what we're reusing intact. Dust containment is part of the job, not an afterthought.

Stage 03

Construction

Plumbing, electrical, framing, tile, finishing — sequenced by your project manager and executed by trades we've worked with for years. You get weekly walk-throughs and one point of contact.

Stage 04

Clean-Up

We don't hand back a finished room with construction dust on it. The walk-through is to a fully cleaned, working space — the first time you use it should feel finished.

Common questions

Things homeowners ask before they call.

Honest answers. No marketing language.

Yes. Happy Bay Construction is CSLB-licensed (#1107947), bonded, and insured in the State of California.
We serve the San Francisco Bay Area, with offices in San Francisco and Oakland. Our regular working area covers San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, San Rafael, Sausalito, Mill Valley, Hayward, and Sonoma. If your project is outside that range, ask — we’ll be honest about whether we’re the right fit.
8–12 weeks of construction once permits are in hand. Permitting and design can add 4–10 weeks before that, depending on the city and the scope. We give you a written timeline before demo starts.
Most bathrooms run 4–8 weeks. Tile-heavy projects, structural changes, or relocating plumbing add time.
No. Many of our clients come to us with just an idea and a Pinterest board. If we end up needing drawings (most additions and full-home remodels do), we can introduce you to architects and designers we work with regularly.
Most kitchen and bath remodels need permits when they involve electrical, plumbing, or structural changes — which is most of them. We handle the application, plan-check, and inspection process. SF’s timeline is usually 4–8 weeks for residential remodel permits.
A rough idea of scope (which rooms, what changes), the project address, any drawings or inspiration photos you have, and a budget range — even a wide one helps us match the right scope to what you can spend.
Yes — single-room paint, a single bathroom, a tile floor. We’d rather do a small job well than a big job we shouldn’t take.

Tell us about your project.

Free on-site estimate. We'll talk through scope, timeline, and a realistic budget — and tell you straight up if we're not the right fit.
